Formosa da Serra Negra Map Poster & Print
Formosa da Serra Negra is a municipality in the south-central interior of Maranhão, far from the state's Atlantic coast. The town is small and its urban area compact, so the map is as much about the surrounding land as about the streets. A handful of parallel roads and cross streets form the centre, and beyond them the land opens out in every direction.
In this part of Maranhão, cerrado landscapes dominate and settlements are spread thinly across large municipal territories. Dirt roads and tracks connect the town to farms and outlying communities, and they appear on the map as long, gently curving lines. Watercourses cross the land at intervals, and together these give the drawing a sparse, graphic quality.
A Formosa da Serra Negra map poster works best as a picture of scale: a small cluster of blocks inside a very large space. For families with roots here, or anyone who spent their early years in the town, that composition says something honest about the place. The long name, with its reference to a black mountain range, fills the title line well.

Country roads
Unpaved roads and tracks stretch away from the centre toward farms and rural communities, drawn as long thin lines across the otherwise empty paper.
Open interior
The wide spaces around the town reflect the scale of inland Maranhão, where municipalities cover large areas and settlements sit far apart from one another.
