Gīnch’ī is a town in the Oromia region of Ethiopia, west of Addis Ababa on the road toward Ambo. It lies in the central highlands, at an altitude where cool air and fertile soil support farming across wide rolling land. On a map the town is shaped largely by the highway, with streets branching off it into residential areas on both sides.
As with many towns along Ethiopia's main roads, the busiest part of Gīnch’ī sits right beside the highway, where shops, services and markets gather. Away from the road the density drops quickly, and the street pattern becomes looser, giving way to farmland, footpaths and scattered homesteads across the highland slopes.
