Gojra is a town in Toba Tek Singh District in central Punjab, Pakistan, set on the flat alluvial plain between the rivers of the region. Its surroundings belong to the canal colonies developed in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and from above the countryside is divided into remarkably regular rectangles of farmland, crossed by watercourses and straight rural roads.
The town itself grew as a grain market and railway stop, with a compact centre around the station and bazaar streets, and newer neighbourhoods spreading along the main roads. Its plan is modest, but set against the ordered fields around it, the result is a clean and graphic composition that reads well even at smaller print sizes.
