Regular street grid
Long parallel streets of houses and gardens make a steady, even pattern, which is typical of settlements laid out on the southern Russian steppe.

Gorodishche Map Poster
Gorodishche is an urban-type settlement and district centre in Volgograd Oblast, just north-west of Volgograd. The steppe surrounds it on most sides. From above, the streets form a broadly regular grid of low-rise blocks, with main roads tying the settlement to the regional capital and to the villages across the plain.
The land around here was part of the approaches to Stalingrad, and it saw heavy fighting in 1942. Memorials in the district mark that history. Today the settlement is largely residential and agricultural, closely tied to the city next door.
A Gorodishche map poster keeps the composition simple and open. The street grid fills the centre of the frame, the roads run outward in long straight lines, and the steppe leaves wide pale margins around it all.

Road to Volgograd
The main road toward the city runs to the south-east. It ties the settlement to Volgograd and gives the map a strong directional line.
Open steppe
Few features break the land beyond the streets, so the built area stands out sharply against a wide, quiet background.
