Graneros lies in the O'Higgins Region of central Chile, a short distance north of Rancagua. Its name means granaries, a fitting reference to the agricultural valley around it. The land is flat and fertile, with the Andes to the east and the coastal range to the west, and on a map the town appears as a regular grid set in a wide expanse of cultivated fields.
The Pan-American Highway, Chile's main north–south route, passes close by, and its straight course sets the axis for the whole region. Around the town, orchards, vineyards and farm plots are divided into long rectangles by irrigation channels and rural roads.
