Guadalajara Map Poster & Print
Guadalajara sits in Castilla-La Mancha on the left bank of the Henares River, northeast of Madrid. From above, the historic centre forms a compact cluster of irregular streets on raised ground above the valley. Around it, newer districts spread out in more regular blocks. The Henares runs in a wide green corridor to the west, and the A-2 motorway and railway follow the valley toward the capital.
The city's name comes from Arabic and is usually translated as river of stones or valley of stones. Its best-known monument is the Palacio del Infantado, a fifteenth-century palace of the Mendoza family with a richly decorated facade. Guadalajara has grown considerably in recent decades as part of the Henares corridor that links it with Madrid.
A Guadalajara map poster brings together three layers: the medieval core, the modern expansion and the river valley. The contrast between the old centre and the new street grids, framed by the Henares and the main transport routes, makes for a balanced composition with plenty of detail.

Henares valley
The river runs past the city through a band of green land. Its wide, soft curve gives the map a natural boundary on the western side.
Madrid corridor
The motorway and railway run along the valley toward the capital. These straight, parallel lines show Guadalajara's close connection to the wider metropolitan area.
