Hegou Map Poster & Print
Hegou lies on the flat farmland of northern Jiangsu, in the region between Xuzhou and the lakes and canals to the east. On the map, the town is a compact centre of streets. Around it, fields, straight rural roads and water channels divide the countryside into long rectangles, with villages set at intervals across the plain.
This part of Jiangsu is low-lying and closely cultivated, and water management shapes the landscape as much as the roads do. Channels drain and irrigate the fields, and their lines often run parallel to the roads. The result is a map made almost entirely of straight strokes, with the town as a denser patch in the middle.
A Hegou map poster is spare and geometric. There is little here to distract from the rhythm of the lines: the town core, the rural lanes, the narrow channels between plots. Printed in black and white, it becomes a calm, abstract pattern that still carries the exact shape of home for someone who knows it.

Parallel channels
Narrow waterways run through the farmland, often alongside the roads. They add a second set of fine lines to the map's regular pattern.
Village clusters
Small settlements are dotted across the plain around Hegou. Each forms a little knot of lanes within the wider grid of fields.
