Hongjiang Map Poster & Print
Hongjiang lies in the hills of western Hunan, and its map is guided by the Yuan River and its tributaries. The main urban area sits along the riverbanks, with streets following the curves of the water and bridges linking the districts on either side. Around the town, the land rises into wooded hills, and the built-up area stays close to the river valleys rather than spreading widely.
Hongjiang is known for its old commercial quarter, where the Yuan meets a tributary. For centuries it was a trading hub for timber, tung oil and other goods moving along the rivers of western Hunan, and many merchant guildhalls, shops and courtyards from the Ming and Qing periods still stand in its lanes today.
A Hongjiang map poster places the river at the centre of the composition. The winding water, the bridges and the narrow streets of the old quarter form a detailed focal point, while the hills around the valley give the frame a calm border. It is a map that reflects a town built around trade on the water.
