Irewe lies on the western side of Lagos State, in the area stretching from the Lagos metropolis toward Badagry. The land is low and close to water, with creeks, wetlands and the lagoon system never far away. On a map, the community appears as a patchwork of newer street grids, older settlement clusters and open ground that has not yet been built on.
This part of Lagos has changed quickly as the city has expanded westward, with the main road toward Badagry serving as the principal link to the rest of the metropolis. Neighbourhoods here often show a mix of planned layouts and informal growth, and that combination is visible in the shape of the streets.
