Ixtapan de la Sal Map Poster & Print
Ixtapan de la Sal lies in the southern part of the State of Mexico, where the land drops from the high Toluca plateau into warmer valleys. The town is best known for its thermal springs. Balnearios and spa hotels have drawn visitors here for generations, mostly from Mexico City and Toluca.
On a map, the historic core follows the familiar Mexican pattern of a central plaza with a church and a compact grid of streets around it. Toward the edges the grid loosens. Streets bend to follow the terrain, and larger blocks mark the resort grounds and water parks. Main roads run north toward Tonatico and Toluca.
An Ixtapan de la Sal map poster shows that mix of old square and leisure town. The dense blocks of the centre sit beside the wide open parcels of the spa complexes. Around them, green hillsides turn into blank space on the print.

Thermal resorts
Spa hotels and balnearios take up large parcels near the centre. Their broad shapes break the fine street pattern and hint at the springs the town is named after.
Valley setting
Hills surround the town, and roads wind down into the valley from the plateau. The looser street lines at the edges show how the terrain shapes the layout.
