Jardim lies in southwestern Mato Grosso do Sul, close to the Serra da Bodoquena and a short drive from Bonito. The town is a compact rectangle of straight streets laid out on flat ground. Its tidy blocks contrast with the countryside around it, where long ranch roads cross the pasture and wooded strips mark the course of streams.
The area is known for its clear-water rivers and limestone landscape. The Buraco das Araras, a large sinkhole where red macaws nest, lies within the municipality, and the Rio da Prata, famous for snorkelling in transparent water, flows nearby. On a map these features show up as thin blue-black lines and isolated shapes beyond the edge of town.
