Jucás sits in the interior of Ceará, in the semi-arid country Brazilians call the sertão. From above, the town is a tight cluster of blocks with a church square near its centre. Beyond the last houses, the map opens into a wide pattern of rural roads, field boundaries and thin lines of streams that run only part of the year.
That contrast gives a Jucás map poster its character. The dense urban core reads as a small dark knot, while the surrounding municipality is drawn in sparse, wandering strokes.
