Kasukabe sits on the low, level ground of eastern Saitama, where rivers once wandered freely across the Kanto Plain. From above, the city reads as a patchwork: dense blocks around the station, looser residential streets beyond, and the pale gaps of remaining farmland toward the edges. The Edo River marks the eastern boundary, while the Old Tone River and smaller channels draw long, curving lines through the middle.
The town grew as a post station on the Nikko Kaido, the Edo-period road north to Nikko, and the old route still shows as a steady line through the centre. Today the Tobu Skytree Line and Urban Park Line meet at Kasukabe Station, and the rail corridors divide the map into clear quarters. Beneath the city's outskirts runs the Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel, a vast flood-control system built to protect this low basin. Old Tone River
Once a main channel of the Tone, this river now loops gently through the city, its curves standing out against the regular housing blocks and the straight lines of the railways.
Rail crossing
Two Tobu lines cross at Kasukabe Station. The densest streets gather around this junction, then thin out into quieter residential grids and fields further from the centre.
