Kedia lies in Jharkhand, in eastern India, on the Chota Nagpur Plateau. The land is not the flat plain of the Ganges. It is an upland of low hills, streams and scattered woodland. On a map, the settlement is a small network of lanes and roads, and fields and open ground spread around it in an irregular pattern.
This part of Jharkhand is known for its mineral wealth and industry as well as for farming, and small towns in the area often sit between agricultural land and the industrial centres of the plateau.
