Valley town
The town stretches along the valley floor in a long, narrow form, one of the clearest examples of how terrain can dictate the shape of a settlement.

Langao Chengguanzhen Map Poster & Print
Langao Chengguanzhen is the seat of Langao County in the Ankang area of southern Shaanxi province. It lies in the Daba Mountains, a rugged range between the Han River basin and Sichuan, and on the map the town is shaped almost entirely by the terrain: a long, narrow strip of streets following a river along the valley floor.
Because flat land is scarce, the town is dense and elongated, with roads and buildings stretched out along the water and steep slopes rising immediately behind. Bridges cross the river at intervals, linking the two banks. Beyond the valley, the map becomes a pattern of winding mountain roads and small settlements tucked into side valleys.
A Langao Chengguanzhen map poster captures the particular character of a mountain town in inland China. The hills around it are forested and farmed on terraces, and the same landscape that makes the region green also gives the map its dramatic, compressed shape. For people from Langao, it is an honest and distinctive portrait of home.

River and bridges
A river runs through the town, and the bridges that cross it at several points give the print a series of short, rhythmic lines.
Mountain roads
Beyond the valley, roads twist through the Daba Mountains, following contours and side valleys in long curving lines across the frame.
