Leslie Map Poster & Print
Leslie lies on the Highveld of Mpumalanga, in the flat, high grassland that stretches across the eastern interior of South Africa. On a map the town is small and clearly defined: a compact grid of streets for the older town, and nearby, larger residential areas laid out in their own patterns, separated by open land, as is common in towns shaped by South Africa's twentieth-century planning.
The surrounding region is largely agricultural, with maize and other crops grown on the wide, open fields, and the wider area also has a strong connection to coal mining and industry around Secunda. Straight roads cross the landscape between farms, towns and industrial sites, giving the area its long, uninterrupted horizons.
A Leslie map poster emphasises the scale of the plain. The town's streets occupy a small portion of the composition, while the rest is made of long straight roads, field boundaries and the occasional pan or dam. It is a spare, open map that reflects the landscape honestly and gives the built-up areas a clear, strong presence.

Residential areas
Larger neighbourhoods with their own street patterns sit apart from the old grid, separated by open land, a layout typical of many South African towns.
Open farmland
Straight roads and field boundaries fill the plain around the town, giving the map a wide, calm structure.
