The Yenisei
The great river runs the full length of the map, far wider than any street. It sets the direction of the entire town and gives the poster its strongest shape.

Lesosibirsk Map Poster & Print
Lesosibirsk lies in Krasnoyarsk Krai, on the Yenisei, a little downstream from where the Angara joins it. Its name comes from the Russian words for forest and Siberia, and timber has shaped the town since it was formed in 1975 from the settlements of Maklakovo and Novomaklakovo. Sawmills, log yards and river wharves line long stretches of the bank.
Because it grew out of separate settlements, the town is long and thin. Districts are strung along the river for many kilometres, and a main road runs parallel to the water to link them. Behind them, the taiga begins almost immediately.
A Lesosibirsk map poster is shaped by the Yenisei, one of the great rivers of the world, wide and steady along one side of the sheet. The town follows it in a line of streets, industrial yards and river landings.

Angara confluence
Just upstream, the Angara flows into the Yenisei. The meeting of two major Siberian rivers is one of the most striking geographic features of the area.
Linear districts
The town's districts follow each other along the river bank, linked by a single main road. The result is a long, narrow outline rather than a round centre.
