L'Île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève is a borough on the western edge of Montreal, made up of two distinct parts. Île Bizard is an island in Lac des Deux Montagnes, where the Rivière des Prairies begins, and Sainte-Geneviève lies across the water on the north shore of the island of Montreal. A bridge links the two, and the map shows them side by side.
Île Bizard is largely green: a nature park with woods and wetlands occupies part of the island, golf courses spread across other sections, and residential streets curve around them. Sainte-Geneviève is denser, a neighbourhood of streets along the river. The water between them is the strongest element of the design.
Île Bizard is home to the Royal Montreal Golf Club, the oldest golf club in North America, which has hosted international tournaments.
