Mandirituba lies in the metropolitan region of Curitiba in the Brazilian state of Paraná, a short distance south of the state capital. The town centre is modest in size. On the map it sits within a much larger rural municipality of rolling fields, woodland and scattered farms, crossed by the BR-116 highway on its way south.
This is the plateau country of southern Brazil, with a mild climate and gentle hills rather than steep slopes. Roads fan out from the town into farmland, and many small streams wind through the valleys. Patches of woodland, typical of a region known for the araucaria pine, break up the fields in irregular shapes.
