Meise lies in Flemish Brabant, just beyond the northern edge of Brussels. On a map it appears as a collection of village centres rather than a single town, connected by country roads and separated by fields, woodland and parkland. The main road north from Brussels runs through the municipality, giving it a clear central axis.
The largest green space on the map is the park of Bouchout Castle, home to Meise Botanic Garden, one of the largest botanical gardens in the world.
