Menglang Map Poster
Menglang is the seat of Lancang Lahu Autonomous County in southwestern Yunnan, China, not far from the border with Myanmar. The county is named for the Lahu people, whose culture is central to local life. The town sits in a valley, surrounded by forested hills, tea gardens and farmland.
The county is known for its tea. The ancient tea forests of Jingmai Mountain, which became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2023, lie within Lancang county, some distance from the town. On a map, Menglang itself is a compact grid of streets on the flat valley floor, with roads climbing out into the hills in long curves.
A Menglang map poster shows a mountain county town in its setting: the ordered blocks of the centre, the fields of the valley and the winding roads that reach into the hills. In black and white, the contrast between the flat core and the folded terrain around it makes a composed and quietly dramatic image.

Mountain roads
Roads leaving Menglang climb into the surrounding hills in long bends and switchbacks. They give the edges of the map fluid, contour-like lines.
Tea country
The hills of Lancang county are covered in tea gardens and forest. Elsewhere in the county, this landscape includes the old tea forests of Jingmai Mountain.
