Morillon lies in the Giffre valley of Haute-Savoie, between Taninges and Samoëns. The village sits on the valley floor near the river, while a second settlement, Morillon 1100, known as Les Esserts, is built on the slope above and serves as the gateway to the ski runs. On the map these two points are joined by a winding road, giving the commune a clear lower and upper half.
Morillon is part of the Grand Massif, the linked ski area shared with Flaine, Samoëns, Les Carroz and Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval. Lifts rise from both the village and the upper station, so the slopes above appear laced with straight lift lines. Down by the Giffre, a small lake used as a summer leisure area adds a quiet shape of open water to the valley floor.
