Naranjito sits in the province of Guayas, inland from Guayaquil on the broad coastal plain of Ecuador. The land here is almost perfectly flat, and the map shows it: a compact town grid surrounded by long rectangular fields, drainage ditches and rural roads that run in straight lines toward neighbouring settlements. The Andes rise further east, but none of that relief reaches the town itself.
The centre follows the familiar Latin American pattern of a regular grid of blocks around a main square and church, with streets thinning out into the countryside at the edges.
