Naviraí is a town in the south of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, in a region of broad farmland within the Paraná River basin. It was founded in the mid-twentieth century as agriculture expanded into the area, and its layout reflects that recent, planned origin. On the map, a wide and regular grid of streets extends in every direction from the centre.
Streets are broad, blocks are even, and main avenues cut across the grid to connect with the highways that carry grain and livestock through the region.
