Nejo is a town in the West Welega area of Oromia, in the highlands of western Ethiopia. The surrounding country is green and rolling, with farmland, patches of woodland and small rivers running through shallow valleys. From above, the town is a modest cluster of streets along its main road, with homesteads and fields spreading out across the hills.
The town acts as a local market and administrative centre for its district. As in much of western Ethiopia, agriculture shapes the landscape, and the pattern of paths and fields around the town reflects generations of small-scale farming. The street layout is simple: a main route through town, with side streets branching off to residential areas.
