Section-line grid
Main roads follow the one-mile survey grid and divide the city into regular squares. This gives the poster a steady structure, with even spacing from edge to edge.

New Berlin Map Poster & Print
From above, New Berlin follows one of the plainest patterns in the Midwest. Its arterial roads run along the old survey lines, one mile apart, north to south and east to west. That leaves a checkerboard of large square blocks. Each block has been filled in its own way: curving cul-de-sac subdivisions, open fields, school campuses and patches of woodland.
The city sits in Waukesha County, on the western edge of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. It became a city in 1959, and it takes its name from New Berlin in New York state, the home of some early settlers. That explains why a place with a German-sounding name has an American survey grid rather than an old European centre.
A New Berlin map poster shows the difference between the straight arterials and the looping residential streets inside each square. In black and white, the long rectangles of the industrial district read as a separate texture. Green spaces and a former rail corridor, now a recreation trail, cross the grid on their own lines.

Cul-de-sac interiors
Inside each mile square, the suburban streets curl into loops and dead ends. At poster scale they look like small fingerprints set inside a rigid frame.
Recreation trail
A former rail line, now used as a walking and cycling trail, runs across the city in one long straight line that ignores the grid around it.

Näme üçin New Berlin
Many bar bolan karta
For people who grew up here, the poster holds the whole daily map: the school, the road to practice, the square their house sat in. The grid makes it easy to find a single street, even from across a room.
Put a family name in the title, a move-in date in the subtitle, and keep the coordinates line or change it. Classic black & white suits the orderly grid. Paper or Sand give it a warmer tone for a living room.
