Bolshoy Uzen
The river winds past the town in loose loops. Its curves are the most expressive lines on the map and soften the grid next to them.

Novouzensk Map Poster & Print
Novouzensk is a small town in Saratov Oblast in southern Russia, on the steppe east of the Volga and not far from the border with Kazakhstan. It lies on the Bolshoy Uzen river, which winds slowly across the plain. On the map, the town is a regular grid of wide streets next to the river's loops.
The trans-Volga steppe is dry, flat and open, and most of it is used for farming and grazing. Around Novouzensk, long field boundaries and straight roads stretch across the land. The river, with its meanders and small side channels, is the only natural feature that breaks the flat pattern.
A Novouzensk map poster contrasts a straight, orderly town plan with the loose curves of a steppe river. The wide open space around them gives the drawing a spare, calm character that suits minimal interiors.
