Novozybkov Map Poster & Print
Novozybkov lies in the far south-west of Bryansk Oblast, close to the borders with Belarus and Ukraine. The surrounding landscape is the flat, sandy woodland of the upper Dnieper basin, with small lakes, bogs and pine forests. On a map the town has a fairly regular grid of streets, with water and green space scattered around its edges.
The town grew from an eighteenth-century settlement of Old Believers, the religious community that separated from the official Russian Orthodox Church. For a long time it remained an important centre for them. In 1986 the region received heavy fallout from the Chernobyl disaster, and Novozybkov became one of the most affected towns in Russia. That history still shapes how it is known today.
A Novozybkov map poster shows a quiet provincial layout. There is a grid of residential blocks, a railway passing through, and a scattering of lakes and ponds around the town. In black and white, the open landscape around it looks almost like a blank margin, so the town's clear structure stands out strongly.

Lakes and ponds
Small bodies of water lie in and around the town. They add soft pale shapes between the straight lines of the streets.
Forest margins
Beyond the last streets, woods and fields cover the flat land. The town appears as a compact grid set within a wide, quiet landscape.
