Oas is a municipality in the western part of Albay province in the Bicol Region, on the Philippine island of Luzon. Its map is largely rural: a modest town centre gathered around the plaza and parish church, surrounded by a wide spread of rice paddies, coconut groves and low hills. Small barangay settlements dot the countryside, connected by narrow roads that follow the lie of the land.
The flat farmland around the town is divided into irregular paddies separated by dikes and irrigation ditches, which appear on the poster as a fine, uneven mesh. Toward the edges of the municipality the terrain rises into hills and the road network thins out, so the composition moves naturally from a dense centre to open, lightly marked countryside.
Albay is the province of Mayon Volcano, whose near-perfect cone rises some distance to the east of Oas and dominates views across much of the region.
