Palisades Tahoe occupies two side valleys of the Sierra Nevada just west of Lake Tahoe in California. On a map, Olympic Valley opens east toward the Truckee River as a flat meadow with a village at its head. Alpine Meadows lies in the next drainage to the south. Steep, rocky terrain rises on every side, and a single gondola now connects the two base areas.
The resort was known for decades as Squaw Valley and took its current name in 2021. Olympic Valley hosted the 1960 Winter Olympics, and the name of the community still recalls that event. Its steep terrain, above all on KT-22, played a large part in shaping American freeskiing culture and continues to draw expert skiers.

Base-to-Base Gondola
Opened in 2022, the gondola crosses the ridge between Olympic Valley and Alpine Meadows. It turns two ski areas that were separate for decades into one connected resort on the map.
Truckee River corridor
Highway 89 follows the Truckee River north from Tahoe City past the entrances to both valleys, giving the poster a strong diagonal line along its eastern side.
