Río Segundo bend
The river curves along the town's edge and softens the rigid grid. On the map it forms the main natural line and separates Pilar from its neighbour.

Pilar Map Poster & Print
Pilar is in Córdoba province, Argentina, on the flat plains southeast of the city of Córdoba. It sits on the Río Segundo, also known as the Xanaes. On the far bank is the town of Río Segundo, and the two settlements face each other across the water like a pair. From above, Pilar is a clear square grid, the standard layout of towns on the Argentine plains.
The river is what makes the map interesting. The grid is perfectly regular, while the Río Segundo bends and bulges, with trees lining its banks. Bridges connect the two towns. Beyond the streets, the countryside is divided into large rectangular fields. The whole area is flat, so the river and the edges of the grid are the only real contrasts.
A Pilar map poster shows the typical Pampas town in its purest form: straight blocks, a central plaza, and farmland on all sides. Here, though, a meandering river and a twin town add something extra. The composition is balanced and makes a strong, calm print.

Twin towns
Pilar and Río Segundo face each other across the water, linked by bridges. Together they make a double grid with a curving gap in between.
Pampas field pattern
Around town, farmland is divided into large, regular rectangles. This pattern continues the grid outward and fills the edges of the poster.
