Puerto Leguízamo Map Poster & Print
Puerto Leguízamo is on the Putumayo River in the far south of Colombia, where the river forms the border with Peru and the Ecuadorian frontier is not far upstream. From above, the town is a small cluster of streets on the riverbank, surrounded on all sides by rainforest.
The river is the main feature of the map, wide and winding, with sandbanks, islands and oxbow curves. The town's streets run close to the water. There are few roads beyond the edge of town, since travel here goes by river and air, and the rest of the frame is dominated by forest and channels.
The town grew around a Colombian naval base established after the Colombia–Peru war of the early 1930s, and the navy remains an important presence. La Paya National Natural Park lies nearby. A Puerto Leguízamo map poster shows a frontier river port with the Putumayo curving past it.

Riverbank town
The streets gather tightly along the waterfront, a small dense grid set against the open space of the surrounding forest.
Roadless surroundings
Beyond the town the map shows almost no roads, a reminder that this corner of the Amazon is reached mainly by boat and plane.
