Rolleston Map Poster & Print
Rolleston lies on the Canterbury Plains south-west of Christchurch, in the Selwyn District. It is one of the fastest-growing towns in New Zealand, and its map shows that clearly: a small original centre surrounded by large new residential areas with curving streets, crescents and cul-de-sacs.
The town sits alongside State Highway 1 and the Main South Line railway, which run parallel through the area. It is named after William Rolleston, a nineteenth-century Superintendent of Canterbury Province. Large industrial and logistics zones have developed near the transport routes.
A Rolleston map poster captures a place still taking shape. The perfectly flat plains leave no hills or rivers to bend the design, so the pattern comes entirely from planning: straight transport lines on one side and the looping streets of new neighbourhoods on the other.
