Rompin is a town in eastern Negeri Sembilan, in the interior of Peninsular Malaysia. It should not be confused with the district of the same name in Pahang. From above, the town is modest: a few commercial streets and residential clusters along main roads, surrounded by large areas of agricultural land. The surrounding patterns are broad and regular, typical of the region's plantation landscape.
This part of Negeri Sembilan is mostly rural, and plantations shape much of the land. Settlements are linked by a network of main roads, and housing spreads along them. The rolling land and scattered forest give the area a quiet character that is very different from the dense corridor near Kuala Lumpur and Seremban to the west.
