River bends
The river sweeps past the town in broad curves, the strongest line on the map and a natural edge for the streets that grow back from its banks.

Rosário Map Poster & Print
Rosário is a town in the north of Maranhão, not far from the island capital of São Luís. Seen from above, it is shaped by water: a river winds past the built-up area, and the surrounding lowland is laced with channels and wet ground that head toward the wide bays of the Atlantic coast.
The town itself is compact, with a simple street grid that runs up from the riverside and gradually loosens into scattered roads. On a Rosário map poster, the curves of the river give the composition its movement, while the straight streets provide a calm counterweight on the drier ground.
Rosário is linked to São Luís and the rest of the state by highway and rail, and those routes cut clean lines across an otherwise organic landscape. The result is a map that mixes human order with the looser patterns of an estuarine region, where land and water are never quite separate.

Compact grid
The centre is laid out in short, regular blocks, a small and tidy pattern that stands out clearly against the open lowland surrounding it.
Transport lines
Road and rail links toward São Luís cross the landscape in long, straight strokes, contrasting with the meandering channels of the coastal plain.
