Curving crescents
Residential streets loop and curl into crescents and cul-de-sacs. At poster scale they make an intricate, almost organic pattern of rounded shapes.

Saint-Basile-le-Grand Map Poster & Print
Saint-Basile-le-Grand is a suburban town in the Montérégie region of Quebec, east of Montreal on the South Shore. From above it is a pattern of curving residential streets, crescents and cul-de-sacs typical of the late twentieth century, crossed by a railway line and a main road. To the west the forested slopes of Mont Saint-Bruno rise from the flat surrounding plain.
The town is served by a commuter rail station on the line between Montreal and Mont-Saint-Hilaire, and many residents work in the metropolitan area. Beyond the suburban streets the land opens into farmland toward the Richelieu river, and the nearby Mont-Saint-Bruno national park offers trails and lakes close to home.
A Saint-Basile-le-Grand map poster captures the looping rhythm of those suburban streets and the straight line of the railway through them. The curves and dead ends make a surprisingly graphic pattern, and the green edge of the mountain gives the composition a natural counterweight.

Commuter rail line
The railway to Montreal crosses the town in a straight line. It is a strong, clean stroke that divides the neighbourhoods into distinct areas.
Mont Saint-Bruno
The wooded hill to the west appears as a broad open area with few streets, a natural boundary that frames the town on one side.
