San Jacinto is in the Montes de María, a range of low hills in Colombia's Bolívar Department inland from the Caribbean coast. The town is known for its handwoven hammocks, made on upright looms in family workshops. It is also known for gaita music, played on long flutes whose traditions are closely tied to the region.
