Santo Antônio do Içá Map Poster & Print
Santo Antônio do Içá is in the far west of Brazil's Amazonas state, where the Içá river, known upstream in Colombia and Peru as the Putumayo, joins the Solimões. Like many Amazon towns, it has no road link to the rest of the country, and boats are the main way to travel. The river decides everything about its shape.
On a map, the town is a small grid of streets on the riverbank, facing broad bands of water. The rivers dominate the frame. Wide channels, sandbanks and islands spread across the page, and forest extends beyond them. The compact settlement looks tiny next to the scale of the water, which makes for a striking black-and-white composition.
A Santo Antônio do Içá map poster suits people from the upper Solimões, those who have travelled the Amazon by boat, and anyone drawn to places defined by great rivers. It captures a confluence few people will ever see from above, with a small town placed exactly where the rivers meet.

Riverbank grid
The town's streets form a small, orderly block on the bank, a sharp contrast with the wide flowing forms of the river.
Islands and sandbanks
Shifting islands and bars within the river channels add layered shapes that make the water itself the most detailed part of the poster.
