Two rivers meeting
The Raritan runs along the northern edge and the South River comes in from the south, so the borough is outlined by water on two sides before either river reaches Raritan Bay.

Sayreville Map Poster & Print
Sayreville sits in Middlesex County, New Jersey, on the south bank of the Raritan River where the South River joins it. From above, the borough looks like a wedge of land bordered on two sides by water. Marsh edges and old industrial shoreline follow the rivers, and residential streets spread inland in loose, suburban curves instead of a strict grid.
The town grew around clay. For much of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries the Sayre and Fisher company dug the local deposits and fired bricks, and those pits and kilns shaped the land long after production ended. Today the evidence is mostly in the ground itself: ponds, reclaimed tracts and the irregular outlines of former works sit between the housing developments.
Transport corridors make the strongest lines on the map. The Garden State Parkway, Route 9 and Route 35 run through the borough, and the Driscoll Bridge carries the Parkway across the Raritan in a broad band of lanes. A Sayreville map poster shows these heavy strokes laid over the fine texture of cul-de-sacs, rivers and wetland edges. Many people also know the town as the place where Jon Bon Jovi grew up.

Driscoll Bridge crossing
The Garden State Parkway crosses the Raritan on the Driscoll Bridge, one of the widest road bridges in the country. On the poster it shows up as a thick, confident line over the river.
Brickyard landscape
Former clay pits and brickworks left ponds and open tracts scattered between neighbourhoods, which break up the suburban street pattern with uneven blank shapes.
