Scottburgh is a coastal town on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, south of Durban. On a map the Indian Ocean shoreline forms its entire eastern edge. The town centre sits where the Mpambanyoni River reaches the sea, and the beachfront, the river mouth and a small rocky point make up the most recognisable part of the plan.
Behind the coast, streets climb gently into low hills in curving residential roads rather than a strict grid. The N2 highway runs parallel to the shore a short distance inland, while the older coastal road and the railway line follow the beach more closely. Together they form a series of lines stacked along the coast.
Scottburgh is one of the best-known holiday towns on the South Coast, with a main beach, lawns and a tidal pool, and the Crocworld Conservation Centre lies a short distance away.
