Sicuani Map Poster & Print
Sicuani lies at about 3,500 metres in the Vilcanota valley, in the south of the Cusco region. The town stretches along the river, with a grid of streets on the valley floor and mountains rising on either side. On the map, the river and the main road run parallel through the centre.
It is the capital of Canchis Province and an important market town on the route between Cusco and Puno, followed by both the highway and the railway that crosses the altiplano. The Inca site of Raqchi, with its great temple dedicated to Wiracocha, lies a short distance down the valley.
A Sicuani map poster shows a place defined by its valley. The river, road and railway form long lines through the town, while the street grid fills the flat land between the slopes. The composition feels long and directional, reflecting the town's role as a stop on a route.
