Stabroek lies in the far north of Antwerp Province, close to the border with the Netherlands. From above, the village and its neighbouring parishes sit in a remarkably flat landscape of polders, reclaimed from marshland along the Scheldt, where fields are divided by straight drainage ditches and dikes.
To the west, the land gives way to the enormous docks and industrial sites of the Port of Antwerp, whose geometric basins make an extraordinary contrast with the rural fields. The village streets themselves are modest, arranged along a few main roads, with residential areas extending outward into the countryside.
