Sungai Petani Map Poster & Print
Sungai Petani lies in southern Kedah, on the flat coastal plain between the foothills of Gunung Jerai to the north and the Muda River to the south. The old town is small and compact, with a grid of shophouse streets. From above, it is surrounded by a wide ring of newer housing estates laid out in curving loops and cul-de-sacs.
The best-known landmark in the centre is the clock tower, built in 1936 to mark the silver jubilee of King George V. A short distance away, the Bujang Valley holds the remains of ancient temples and trading settlements, among the oldest archaeological sites in Malaysia. Gunung Jerai is the main landmark on the horizon.
A Sungai Petani map poster shows the pattern of a town that has grown quickly: a small historic grid at the heart, the North–South Expressway passing to the east, and many residential estates spreading outward. The loops and curves of these estates give the map a distinctive, almost ornamental texture.

Housing estates
Around the centre, newer residential areas are laid out in loops, crescents and cul-de-sacs that give the outer map a rich, repeating pattern.
Gunung Jerai
The mountain to the north is the main natural landmark of the area. It can be seen from the town and marks the northern edge of the plain.
