Thị Trấn Thuận Châu is the district town of Thuận Châu in Sơn La Province, in the mountainous northwest of Vietnam. Thị trấn simply means town in Vietnamese, and the settlement here is small and linear, following the valley floor between forested ridges. National Route 6, the main road through this part of the country, passes through it, and much of the town lines that route.
The district is home mainly to Thai communities, one of the ethnic groups of the northwestern highlands, alongside other upland peoples. Rice fields occupy the flatter valley land around the town, while the slopes beyond are farmed and forested. Markets here draw people from surrounding villages, and the town serves as the administrative centre for a wide rural area.
