Unecha Map Poster
Unecha is a town in Bryansk Oblast, in western Russia, and it owes its existence to the railway. It grew up around a station built in the late nineteenth century and later became an important junction. The tracks and yards still sit at the centre of its layout.
From above, Unecha is organised along the rail lines. Straight residential streets lie on both sides of the tracks, and the town is connected by the crossings between them. Past the last houses the map fades into fields and patches of the forest typical of the region.
An Unecha map poster makes the railway the main subject. The long parallel lines of the yards cut across the town and give the composition a clear, industrial structure, and the smaller streets fill in around them in a looser, domestic pattern.

Streets on both sides
The residential districts spread out on either side of the railway, each with its own grid of straight streets, connected by only a few crossings.
Forest and field edge
Around the town the map becomes sparse, a reminder of the farmland and woodland of Bryansk Oblast that surround the settlement.
