Viçosa do Ceará Map Poster & Print
Viçosa do Ceará sits on the Serra da Ibiapaba, the plateau along the western edge of Ceará near the border with Piauí. Its elevation gives it a cooler climate than the lowlands, and the map shows a town laid over uneven ground, with the older streets gathered around churches and squares in a compact historic core.
The town grew from a Jesuit mission, and it is one of the oldest settlements in Ceará. Its historic centre is protected as national heritage. The best-known landmark is the Igreja do Céu, a small church on a hilltop above the town, reached by a long stairway.
A Viçosa do Ceará map poster shows the old centre and the way the streets rise and fall with the hills of the serra, with roads winding off along the plateau. In print, the tight cluster of colonial blocks set on a high ridge makes a clear, graceful composition.
