Valley-floor avenues
Long avenues follow the direction of the valley, crossed by shorter streets. Together they form a looser, more modern grid than the colonial core just to the northwest.

Wanchaq Map Poster & Print
Wanchaq is the part of Cusco where the city flattens out. While the historic centre climbs on narrow, irregular lanes, Wanchaq spreads across the floor of the Huatanay valley in wider blocks and long avenues. From above it reads as the city's modern, planned side, with the river channel and the main roads running in parallel down the valley.
The district sits at well over 3,000 metres, and the mountains rise close on both sides. On a map that shows up as a clear edge: the tight street network stops where the slopes begin. The straight line of Cusco's airport runway lies nearby, one of the few perfectly straight marks in a landscape of curves.
A Wanchaq map poster suits people who know Cusco beyond its postcard squares, the place of offices, markets, schools and everyday traffic. It shows the valley as a corridor, with the city pressed into it and the terrain holding it in place. In print, the contrast between the grid and the empty mountains is striking.

Airport runway
The airport runway draws a single straight bar across the eastern side of the map. It gives the composition a strong horizontal anchor and a clear sense of scale.
Huatanay channel
The Huatanay river runs through the valley in a narrow, mostly straight channel. On the poster it appears as a thin line tying Wanchaq to the rest of Cusco.
