Cul-de-sac branches
Short dead-end streets branch off winding collector roads. On paper they look like twigs on a branch, one of the most recognisable suburban map patterns.

West Elkridge Map Poster & Print
West Elkridge is a suburban community in Howard County, Maryland, between Baltimore and the planned town of Columbia. It lies close to the Patapsco River, whose wooded valley forms a natural boundary on this side of the county. Major highways pass nearby, and they are part of what makes the area convenient for commuters.
From above, West Elkridge is typical late-twentieth-century American suburbia. There is no grid. Instead, collector roads curve through the area and small loops and cul-de-sacs branch off them. Patches of woodland and stream valleys run between the subdivisions and break the development into separate pockets.
A West Elkridge map poster turns that branching network into a delicate pattern, like leaf veins, bordered by the heavy lines of the highways. It is a good fit for anyone who can find their own street in the tangle at a glance.

Patapsco valley
The river's forested valley lies close by. It forms a soft, irregular edge where the dense street pattern stops and gives way to open space.
Highway frame
Large regional roads run near the community. Their bold, straight lines contrast with the gentle curves of the residential streets.
