White Oak Map Poster & Print
White Oak is an unincorporated community in Montgomery County, Maryland, just north of Silver Spring. Its map is a typical mid-century suburban pattern. Curving residential streets, cul-de-sacs and loops fill the land between a few major roads, including Columbia Pike and New Hampshire Avenue, which carry traffic toward Washington.
The largest single feature on the map is the Federal Research Center at White Oak. This former Naval Ordnance Laboratory site is now the headquarters of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Its broad campus, with internal roads and open ground, forms a distinct block quite unlike the surrounding neighbourhoods.
Stream valleys run through the area, including the Paint Branch, and their wooded parkland adds winding green corridors. A White Oak map poster brings together the curving suburban streets, the big federal campus and the stream valleys, a clear picture of how the outer ring of the Washington region is laid out.

Suburban street loops
Residential streets curve and branch into cul-de-sacs, which is typical of postwar planning. On the map they create soft, organic textures between the main roads.
Stream valley parks
Wooded stream valleys such as the Paint Branch cut through the neighbourhood. They form narrow, winding bands of green that break up the built-up areas.
