The Werra River
The river loops through the valley past the town, and its curving course and bridge crossing give the map its main line.

Witzenhausen Map Poster & Print
Witzenhausen sits in northern Hesse, on the Werra River, where the valley winds between wooded hills. The river crosses the map in broad curves, and a bridge links the two banks. The compact old town sits on one side, its streets following the outline of the former town walls, and beyond it the slopes are covered with fields and orchards.
The town is known in Germany for its cherries. The surrounding slopes are among the country's largest cherry-growing areas, and blossom and harvest are a big part of the local calendar. Witzenhausen is also home to the University of Kassel's faculty of organic agricultural sciences, an unusual academic presence for a small town.
A Witzenhausen map poster shows a river town at a comfortable scale. The curves of the Werra dominate the frame, the old centre forms a tight oval of streets beside it, and the roads climbing into the hills trace the valley's shape. It is a gentle, balanced map of a place shaped by water and farmland.

Walled old town
The historic centre keeps the compact outline of its medieval walls, with a close grid of half-timbered streets. It forms the densest part of the map.
Cherry orchard slopes
The hillsides around the town are planted with cherry trees and fields, so the map's outer areas are drawn with the soft lines of farm tracks and field edges.
